Megalopolis X Shenzhen Super Headquarter

Golden A' Design Award Winner 2020

A sweeping aerial view reveals a magnificent waterfront development dominated by an exceptionally tall central tower rising from an organically shaped platform surrounded by water on three sides. Beginning with the distant background, a dense metropolitan skyline of varied high-rise buildings extends across the composition in soft focus, their forms rendered in muted steel gray and silver tones suggesting morning mist or atmospheric haze. Moving forward to the middle ground, the development's primary tower commands attention at center, its surface appearing as smooth glass in cool blue-gray tones, the material suggesting polished ice or brushed aluminum to the touch. This central spire features distinctive horizontal bands of warm copper or bronze color at regular intervals, perhaps four or five such bands creating rhythm up the tower's immense height, these warmer elements feeling like burnished metal with slight textural variation against the cooler glass. Flanking this central tower, secondary towers of varying heights create an asymmetrical grouping, all sharing similar cool metallic and glass materials. The foreground presents the platform itself, shaped like an organic leaf or botanical form, with curving edges that embrace the surrounding water. At the platform's heart, a diamond-shaped pavilion structure glows with warm amber light from within, its faceted roof suggesting a great jewel or crystal. Pathways radiate outward from this central pavilion, lined with green vegetation that would feel soft and yielding underfoot, interspersed with paved areas in pale gray tones. The water surrounding the platform appears calm, rendered in soft blue-green tones suggesting cool depths. The sky above presents gradients from warm peachy tones near the horizon through lavender to cool blue-gray, suggesting either dawn or dusk with gentle diffused lighting casting minimal shadows across the entire scene.

Megalopolis X will be the new center in the heart of the greater bay area, close to the border between Hong Kong and Shenzhen. The master plan integrates architecture with pedestrian networks, parks and public spaces. Above and below ground transportation networks are being planned by maximizing connectivity in the city. A below ground sustainable infrastructure network will provide systems for district cooling and automatic waste treatment in a seamless manner. The aim is to establish a creative master plan framework of how cities will be designed in the future.
