A contemporary residential landscape entrance presents itself in this architectural photograph, featuring a dramatically sweeping metallic roof canopy and a serene reflecting pool with naturalistic plantings. Scanning from left to right across the composition, the eye first encounters the canopy of a mature tree extending into frame from the upper left corner, its spring-green leaves appearing fresh and translucent against a partly cloudy sky of soft cerulean blue. Below this natural element, warm bronze-toned vertical panels clad a wall surface stretching toward center, their color suggesting burnished copper catching gentle daylight, smooth and substantial to imagined touch. The most striking architectural element dominates the upper portion: a sweeping roof structure in silvery gray metal, its surface marked by parallel striations running diagonally like the pleats of folded fabric or the veins of a massive feather, creating a sense of frozen movement as it extends from left toward a central entrance portal. This canopy appears to float with graceful weightlessness above the entrance, where illuminated openings suggest passage into interior spaces beyond. The lower right portion of the composition presents a reflecting pool of remarkable stillness, its dark surface like polished obsidian mirroring fragments of sky and architecture above. Within this pool, an island rises supporting carefully arranged natural stones—rough-textured and organic in form—alongside a slender deciduous tree whose delicate branches reach upward, surrounded by a dome of precisely clipped evergreen shrubs in vivid chartreuse green. The water spills over a curved granite edge in the immediate foreground, creating a gentle cascade perhaps twelve inches in height. Background elements include high-rise residential towers in soft gray and white, their geometric forms softened by atmospheric distance, suggesting an urban setting where this landscape creates sanctuary. The overall atmosphere conveys refined tranquility, where contemporary architectural boldness and timeless garden principles achieve harmonious balance.
The Nine-Court Mansion, a high-end eco-residence project in Chongqing, is meant to create a new life style of Oriental implication by incorporating the stable spirit of Oriental tradition, exploiting the modern Oriental artistic expression and upgrading the function of residential areas. By reference to the spatial layout method from the Imperial Palace, nine spaces are constructed and grouped into three steps of the home-returning ceremony which are Entering the Gate to Behold the Mansion, Enjoying the Scenery in the Courtyard and Resting the Soul at Home respectively.
