A boutique skincare salon interior unfolds beneath an ancient barrel-vaulted stone ceiling. Scanning from above downward and then foreground to background, the ceiling curves overhead in a continuous arch composed of rough-cut limestone blocks in warm cream, sandy beige, and pale ochre tones, their surfaces weathered and pitted like honeycomb or ancient coral, conveying textures that would feel cool and rough beneath fingertips. Suspended against this stone canopy, two large circular brass ring lights float horizontally, their forms smooth as polished jewelry, emitting soft warm illumination that creates halos against the irregular stone. The left side features an expansive arched mirror reaching nearly floor to ceiling, framed by slender brass dividers in a grid pattern, reflecting the vaulted space infinitely and doubling the visual depth. In the foreground, commanding attention at center, a large cylindrical table of polished brass gleams like burnished gold, its surface smooth as silk and warm to the eye, approximately waist height with white circular top surface. Surrounding this central piece, five smaller cylindrical stools of matching brass with white cushioned tops provide seating, arranged organically around the main counter. The brass captures and reflects ambient light, creating pools of golden warmth. Along the right wall, a continuous ledge of pale wood or cream-toned material displays rows of small amber-colored glass bottles arranged in precise rhythmic sequence, perhaps fifty or more vessels suggesting an apothecary collection. The floor beneath is smooth white, cool and neutral, providing visual respite from the textural richness above. Small product vessels rest on the central table surface. The atmosphere suggests a sanctuary, a grotto of quiet luxury where warm golden light meets ancient stone, intimate yet refined.
Designed for new Japanese cosmetics brand En, the store occupies of an 18th-century building in the center of the French capital. The name "En" translates as "beauty" in Japanese, but can also mean "circle" and "connection". These three translations all inspired the design of the store. On the ground floor are two bright minimal spaces, furnished with curving brass partitions and furniture. Meanwhile the basement reveals the building's history, with exposed stone walls and a vaulted ceiling.
