Golden A' Design Award Winner 2018
This architectural interior photograph presents a contemporary office corridor captured in landscape orientation, with the camera positioned at standing height facing toward a glass entrance doorway visible in the distance. Beginning with overall orientation, warm natural daylight floods the space from windows at right, creating an inviting atmosphere with minimal harsh shadows. The corridor extends from the viewer's position forward, with the floor divided into distinct zones: a central pathway of soft gray carpet, textured like dense commercial broadloom, features rectangular insets of bright yellow resembling warm sunflower petals placed at regular intervals. To the left, floor-to-ceiling glass panels with slim white metal frames reveal enclosed office spaces beyond, their walls painted in vivid orange like ripe persimmons, creating visual warmth visible through the transparent barriers. A white storage unit or cabinet stands mid-corridor on the left, its rounded corners softening the geometric precision of surrounding elements. At right, a curved glass wall sweeps inward, defining a lounge area with deep rust-colored carpet as warm and rich as autumn maple leaves. Within this intimate space, comfortable seating in coral pink and soft gray tones surrounds a small wooden side table with a distinctive hourglass shape carved from pale honey-toned wood. A tall floor lamp stands nearby, its black cylindrical shade like a gentleman's top hat suspended above a slender tripod base. Sheer curtains in flowing rust and cream tones hang along the windows, filtering light to create a soft amber glow reminiscent of early evening sunshine. The ceiling above maintains crisp white perforated acoustic panels with small recessed light fixtures scattered like stars across the grid. The overall sensation is one of welcoming warmth within professional purpose, where transparency invites connection while thoughtful zoning provides spaces for both movement and pause.
The German engineering company Puls moved to new premises and used this opportunity for visualizing and stimulating a new collaboration culture within the company. The new office design is driving a cultural change, with teams reporting a significant increase in internal communication, particularly between research and development and other departments. The company has also seen a rise in spontaneous informal meetings, known to be one of the key indicators of success in research and development innovation.
