Kwsa Kinetic Wall

Silver A' Design Award Winner 2025

This is a large-scale architectural wall installation composed of numerous small triangular metallic panels arranged in a precise grid pattern, creating a complex three-dimensional surface that catches and reflects light in constantly varying ways. Scanning from the upper left corner toward the lower right, the wall extends diagonally across the entire frame, suggesting monumental scale. Each triangular panel, approximately the size of a spread hand, pivots from its center point, with some panels tilting toward the viewer to catch bright light while others angle away into shadow. The overall color impression is cool and metallic, like brushed steel or polished aluminum, with the quality of light dancing on water or the shimmer of fish scales. Where panels face the light source, they glow with warm amber tones reminiscent of sunset light or candlelit metal, creating pockets of warmth amid the predominantly cool blue-gray atmosphere. The shadows between panels feel deep and velvety, like the spaces between folded fabric. Moving across the surface from left to right, the pattern appears to ripple and flow as if captured mid-wave, though the structure itself is still. The tactile impression suggests cool, smooth metal surfaces with precisely machined edges, the kind of material that would feel substantial and weighty in hand. Bright specular highlights punctuate the surface where light strikes at optimal angles, creating starbursts of brilliance that draw the eye along diagonal pathways through the composition. The environmental atmosphere suggests an interior space, perhaps a lobby or gallery, where controlled lighting allows the installation's responsive qualities to emerge fully.

Located within the Aramco Innovation Center in Riyadh, this kinetic wall features a dynamic surface composed of precisely controlled triangular modules. The installation engages visitors through subtle, rhythmic motion and quiet mechanical operation, contributing to the architectural identity of the space. Designed to integrate seamlessly with complementary interactive systems, the kinetic wall enables synchronized choreographies that enrich the visitor experience through unobtrusive technological interaction.
