Frames Office

Silver A' Design Award Winner 2025

This architectural photograph presents a three-story contemporary office building viewed from across a roadway, captured under a bright blue sky with scattered white clouds. The building features a predominantly white exterior with extensive horizontal bands of windows spanning each floor level. Beginning at the top, a flat-roofed white volume projects slightly forward, with dark lettering visible along its upper edge. Continuous windows wrap across this uppermost level, their glass surfaces reflecting the sky in cool blue-grey tones reminiscent of still water on an overcast day. The middle level mirrors this arrangement with another full-width window band set within crisp white framing. Moving to the ground level, the glazing continues while a darker horizontal canopy element projects outward on the left side, providing sheltered entry. The base of the building features warmer toned natural stone, suggesting rough-hewn granite or limestone with tactile, weathered character. In the foreground, a white metal fence with vertical pickets extends horizontally across the full width, its texture smooth and cool like painted aluminum. Between fence and building, a landscaped garden includes several tall deciduous trees with intricate bare branches reaching upward like delicate line drawings against the architecture, alongside darker evergreen shrubs and ornamental grasses. The ground covering appears as mulched earth in warm brown tones. To the right, mature tropical plants add sculptural organic forms. The sky above transitions from deep cerulean at zenith to lighter azure near the horizon, with clouds suggesting soft cotton or whipped cream in their billowing forms. The overall atmosphere feels fresh, professional, and quietly energetic, like a clear winter morning with crisp air and gentle warmth from sunlight.

This building is characterized by its distinctive window frame design, featuring a well balanced exterior with a floating upper window frame and a horizontal canopy on the first floor. The thoughtful placement of plants is a key design element, effectively dispersing the gaze of passersby and enhancing the sense of openness within the office space. As a wooden structure, it demonstrates a commitment to low-carbon construction, and the seismic design, based on structural analysis, ensures both an open aesthetic and safety. These factors were all comprehensively evaluated.
