Bronze A' Design Award Winner 2025
A fitness training environment unfolds from foreground to background, beginning with smooth flooring that appears polished concrete or resin in a cool gray tone, its surface reflecting colored light and creating gentle luminous patches near your position as viewer. Resting on this floor in the immediate foreground sits a barbell, a long straight metal shaft approximately six feet in length, chrome or steel in appearance suggesting coolness to the touch, with circular weight plates loaded on each end, the plates appearing black with visible text markings, the whole assembly positioned horizontally across the lower portion of your view. Just beyond the barbell, occupying the central and slightly left-of-center area, a human figure kneels in athletic stance, knees bent and body lowered as though preparing to grasp the barbell, hands positioned on the bar in conventional lifting grip with palms facing the body and arms extended downward, the figure's torso inclined forward creating a dynamic angular line from head through spine, the person wearing a sleeveless black athletic top that reveals muscular arms and shoulders, the fabric appearing soft matte textile, along with dark fitted athletic pants and athletic shoes in dark tones with lighter accent details, the figure's head tilted slightly upward as though gazing toward something above and ahead, facial features showing focused expression with short dark hair, the skin tone appearing warmly tanned and bathed in colored theatrical lighting. The lighting creates dramatic effects across the scene, with warm magenta-red illumination flooding the left portion of the space like the glow of sunset or stage lights filtered through colored gels, this warm light casting ruddy tones across the left side of the figure's body and clothing and creating a pervasive rosy-purple atmospheric haze in that zone, while from the right side cool blue illumination in shades of deep cyan and cobalt creates contrasting cold-toned atmosphere like twilight or underwater light, these two colored light sources meeting and blending in the middle areas to create transitional purple-violet hues, the overall effect suggesting you are in a space filled with colored theatrical lighting that creates warm and cool zones simultaneously. The wall behind the figure rises upward revealing weathered texture suggesting painted concrete or industrial masonry, its surface rough to imagine touching like aged plaster or worn paint, this wall surface visible in patches where the colored light reveals its character. Dominating the upper right and central upper portion of your view, mounted on or projected onto this wall, appears large bold typography spelling out the brand name in crisp white letters with strong geometric sans-serif character, the text arranged in two horizontal lines stacked one above the other, each letterform constructed from straight lines and simple curves creating modern functionalist appearance, the white letters outlined with thin rectangular borders creating framed boxes around each word, this typography reading as smooth and pristine in contrast to the textured wall behind, its scale suggesting letters perhaps three feet tall, commanding visual attention through size and contrast. Additional lighting elements appear near the floor along the left side where vertical strip lights glow with warm pinkish-red color creating linear accents that enhance the sense of contemporary designed fitness space. The overall atmosphere suggests an indoor environment at night or in a windowless interior space where all illumination comes from artificial theatrical sources, the air itself seeming slightly hazy as though filled with subtle atmospheric effects or photographic diffusion, creating a sense of immersive designed environment where color, light, typography, and human presence combine into unified spatial brand experience, the temperature feeling neither hot nor cold but rather the controlled environment of an indoor facility, the mood reading as intensely focused, aspirational, and charged with the potential energy of imminent physical exertion and the bold confidence of contemporary fitness culture visual expression.
PowerBuilding is a fitness project from New York that combines science and training. The visual system is built on graphic elements: circles represent nutrition, zigzags symbolize health, and straight lines stand for strength. The design merges two typefaces: a technological monospaced font and a bold grotesque, representing power. The color palette is based on a red to blue gradient, helping the brand stand out from common solutions in the U.S. fitness industry. The result is a cohesive visual identity, scalable across digital and print media.
