Theater House Residential Home

Silver A' Design Award Winner 2025

This architectural photograph presents a contemporary multi-level residence captured during evening twilight, with the building occupying the upper two-thirds of a square format image while landscaped terraces fill the lower portion. Beginning at the top, a deep blue sky transitioning from slate gray to rich cerulean provides atmospheric backdrop, with scattered clouds catching the last ambient light of dusk. The uppermost architectural volume features a flat roof with dark charcoal coping, below which a band of planted ornamental grasses in sage green and gold receives dramatic uplighting that creates glowing amber halos. Three tall window openings reveal illuminated interior spaces through sheer white curtains, the warm light within suggesting honey-golden tones like candlelight or warm incandescent illumination. Moving downward, a projecting balcony planter box contains trailing greenery cascading over its concrete edge in soft tendrils. The middle level presents the most transparent zone, with floor-to-ceiling glass panels offering direct views into living and dining areas where cream-colored seating, wooden furniture in natural oak tones, and kitchen cabinetry in warm brown create an inviting domestic interior. Cylindrical concrete columns in warm gray support this level. The foreground presents terraced landscape architecture with broad timber decking in rich chocolate brown and mahogany tones ascending via wide steps from right toward the interior. Integrated planter beds contain tropical specimens including spiky dracaena plants in olive green, a mature tree with sinuous trunk at right, and trailing plants spilling over edges in cascading curtains of pale green. A sunken lower area glimpsed at bottom reveals woven furniture pieces suggesting an intimate courtyard. The overall sensation combines the coolness of evening air with the welcoming warmth radiating from within.

The primary objective is to establish a seamless connection between each program of the house by creating a split-level space throughout, from the initial encounter to the heart of the house. This design strategy also conveys a sense of spaciousness and unobstructed open space between the poolside terrace, living dining room, and covered multi-function terrace. The upper floor contains the master and children's bedrooms, each with access to a roof garden.
