Bosphorus Residential House

This interior space presents a contemporary residential design featuring multiple levels connected by wide marble steps. Beginning with overall orientation, you are viewing a sophisticated living area dominated by warm wood tones above and cool grey marble surfaces below, with the composition spanning approximately three distinct zones arranged diagonally from lower left to upper right. The immediate foreground presents a highly polished floor surface, smooth and cool as river stone, reflecting the stepped platforms and lighting above like still water. Moving upward and rightward, broad steps constructed from silver-grey marble with subtle veining ascend in generous proportions, each step approximately ankle height, with warm amber light glowing from concealed strips beneath every riser creating floating luminous bands against the cool stone. The marble feels substantial and enduring, its surface suggesting the polished coolness of a museum gallery floor. Along the left side, rich walnut wood paneling extends from floor to ceiling in warm burnt sienna tones reminiscent of autumn chestnuts, incorporating a display system of illuminated rectangular niches set against deep Venetian red backgrounds. These niches, approximately shoulder height and arranged vertically, contain curated objects including a small white classical figure in motion, burgundy glass vessels catching the warm light, and several volumes including one with visible red binding. The warmth radiating from these illuminated alcoves suggests the intimate glow of candlelight against polished wood. A prominent ceiling plane in matching walnut timber extends overhead, creating a compressed, sheltering quality above the open stepped area. To the right of center, seven slender brass rods rise vertically beside the steps, warm gold against the cool stone, spaced evenly like organ pipes. The upper zone reveals a bar area with two contemporary stools in soft dove white with brass legs positioned before a counter, behind which rises a dramatic marble wall displaying bold natural veining in terracotta and rust against cream, its patterns organic and flowing like dried riverbeds. A brass dome lamp glows warmly on the counter surface beside dark bottles and glassware.

Bosphorus House designed by Architect Ayse Kubilay is located on a hill overlooking the Bosphorus where Europe meets Asia. Originally built in 90s the house has been completely renovated with an interior design concept getting its inspiration from the historical allure of Istanbul and contemporary life. Every detail is meticulously designed to create a luxurious environement of quality and comfort, emphasizing on stunning views, function and comfort oriented open spaces and natural light.
