Golden A' Design Award Winner 2025

This architectural interior photograph presents a contemporary sales pavilion viewed from an entry position looking directly toward a central sculptural installation. The overall format is square, capturing a symmetrical timber-framed space with highly polished dark stone flooring that creates mirror-like reflections throughout the lower portion of the image. Beginning overhead, an elaborate ceiling system composed of horizontal timber slats painted deep charcoal black creates strong linear patterns extending from the viewer toward the back of the space. Three rectangular skylights punctuate this timber lattice, revealing pale blue sky and admitting soft natural daylight that illuminates the interior with gentle, diffused warmth. Massive square timber columns, similarly finished in dark charcoal, define the structural bays and create a rhythmic progression of vertical elements framing the central view. At the composition's heart, positioned on a low dark pedestal, two large spherical woven sculptures command attention through their warm amber-gold coloring, suggesting the temperature of afternoon sunlight or aged honey. These spheres display intricate basket-weave patterns with geometric designs radiating from their centers, their organic texture contrasting with the architectural precision surrounding them. Behind these sculptures, an ornate decorative screen rises floor to ceiling, featuring thousands of small perforations arranged in overlapping scale-like patterns that filter views to lush green vegetation beyond. The garden glimpsed through this screen shows deciduous trees with bright spring foliage and carefully maintained plantings. The floor surface resembles polished graphite or black marble, cool and smooth as river stone, reflecting every overhead element in perfect mirror symmetry. To the left and right peripheries, floor-to-ceiling glass walls reveal additional garden views and covered walkways, with small potted plants positioned near the columns. The atmosphere suggests hushed tranquility, an implied stillness like the quiet of an early morning temple, with the filtered natural light creating a contemplative environment that balances monumental architectural scale with intimate craft details.
