Laela Leisure Chair

Bronze A' Design Award Winner 2025

A contemporary office seating design family occupies a warm, earth-toned architectural environment with textured walls and geometric cubic recesses, the scene presenting six iterations of a wheeled task chair in varied upholstery colors arranged across the foreground in a gently staggered horizontal composition. Beginning at the left edge of the composition, a chair upholstered in soft blush pink fabric sits slightly angled, its curved backrest and integrated armrests creating an enveloping shell form that suggests ergonomic support and comfortable containment, the upholstery reading as smooth textile with subtle tonal variation that reveals the three-dimensional curvature of the molded structure beneath. The chair rests on a five-point castor base rendered in what appears to be black powder-coated metal, the wheeled supports splaying outward to create stable footprint while suggesting easy mobility across floor surfaces, each castor reading as a small cylindrical element that would roll smoothly and quietly. Behind this pink chair and slightly to its right, verdant tropical foliage emerges from the lower left corner, large glossy leaves in rich green tones that feel cool and fresh against the warm architectural backdrop, the botanical element introducing organic irregularity and living texture into the composed geometric environment. Moving rightward across the foreground, a smaller task chair in charcoal black occupies the space just right of center-left, its darker upholstery creating visual weight and chromatic anchor, the same shell form and wheeled base configuration miniaturized in scale, perhaps suggesting a version designed for smaller users or more compact spatial applications. To the right of this black chair sits a larger unit upholstered in warm pearl white fabric that reads as soft and inviting as fresh linen, the light tone catching ambient illumination and appearing luminous within the composition, this chair oriented more frontally than its neighbors and thereby revealing the gentle slope of its backrest and the subtle wraparound quality of its integrated armrests. Moving further right, another chair rendered in cool slate gray provides tonal middle ground between the light and dark extremes, this unit angled slightly away from the viewer and thereby showing the profile curve of its shell form and the tapering of the backrest toward its upper edge. In the right foreground, a blush pink chair similar to the leftmost unit sits at an angle that creates visual echo and chromatic bookend, and behind it in the middle distance, a sixth chair in pale gray or white occupies a shallow cubic recess in the architectural backdrop, this elevated placement creating spatial depth and suggesting the seating's integration into built environment. The architectural setting itself feels warm as sun-baked clay or desert sand, the textured wall surfaces suggesting rough-troweled plaster or stucco finish that would feel granular and slightly cool to the touch, the warm beige and terra-cotta tones creating enveloping atmosphere that feels both intimate like a small room and expansive like an open courtyard depending on how one reads the spatial cues. Geometric architectural elements including rectangular apertures, stepped horizontal planes, and cubic voids create depth recession and provide framing devices that organize the visual field, these rectilinear forms contrasting with the organic curves of the furniture and establishing formal dialogue between built environment and designed object. Lighting throughout feels warm and diffused as if from late afternoon sun filtered through translucent shades or from warm-toned artificial sources positioned above and slightly behind the viewpoint, this illumination casting soft shadows beneath each chair that extend gently forward, the shadows rendered in warm brown tones with soft blurred edges that suggest distance between object and light source and create gentle spatial grounding without harsh contrast. The overall atmosphere feels calm, considered, and quietly sophisticated, the warm color temperature and soft light quality creating welcoming rather than clinical impression, while the ordered yet non-rigid arrangement of multiple chairs suggests thoughtful curation and invitation to comparison and selection, the scene as a whole presenting the seating design as both functional object and aesthetic element worthy of careful visual consideration and personal response.

The design inspiration behind the Laela series draws from geometric art and incorporates organic forms found in nature to create a symmetrical and harmonious aesthetic effect. This series encompasses seven leisure chairs with different functionalities to cater comprehensively to various user needs. Among them, the armless and low backrest wide seat style, specially designed for compact living spaces, aims to offer a more spacious and comfortable experience.
