Arc Radiance Residential Apartment

Bronze A' Design Award Winner 2025

Entering this residential living environment, one encounters a serene contemporary interior space characterized by warm neutral tones and horizontal spatial flow. Beginning with overall orientation: this is a medium-format architectural photograph capturing a living room viewed from a position near the seating area looking toward the media wall, the space measures approximately twelve to fifteen feet in width based on furniture scale, with standard residential ceiling height appearing to be roughly nine to ten feet, creating comfortable human-scaled proportions that feel neither compressed nor cavernous. Scanning from left to right across the composition: the left wall is dominated by a dramatic architectural feature, a tall curved element that rises from floor nearly to ceiling, this sculptural form reading as approximately seven feet in height and perhaps eighteen inches in depth, its shape suggesting an elongated organic oval or rounded rectangle with softly curved edges, the element glows with warm amber internal illumination that suggests honey or candlelight filtered through translucent material, creating a luminous halo effect around its perimeter, immediately adjacent to this glowing curve sits a panel of vertical wooden slats, each slat perhaps two inches wide with narrow gaps between revealing subtle illumination behind, the wood reading as pale blonde or light oak with visible grain suggesting warmth like sun-warmed timber, this textured panel measures approximately four feet in width and extends from floor to a horizontal division point about two-thirds up the wall height. Moving to the center of the composition: a large flat rectangular media screen, dark gray to black in its inactive state, mounts flush against a smooth taupe wall surface that reads as warm as chamois leather or doeskin, the screen measures approximately fifty to sixty inches diagonally and sits centered above a low floating console, this media cabinet executes in horizontal bands of pale wood matching the floor tones with integrated horizontal slatted ventilation grilles creating rhythmic texture across its roughly six-foot width, the console floats approximately twelve inches above the floor plane creating visual lightness, atop this cabinet rest small objects including what appears to be stacked books or magazines and a small rounded organic form perhaps a stone or wooden bowl. The ceiling plane above reads as very pale cream, nearly white but retaining warmth like ivory or aged paper, a continuous band of recessed lighting traces the perimeter where wall meets ceiling, this cove illumination creating soft indirect glow like dawn light that visually lifts the ceiling, a darker gray-brown rectangular element interrupts the ceiling at upper right suggesting integrated climate control. In the foreground right portion: a low oval coffee table with pale wood top and legs angled outward like Danish modern furniture, perhaps forty inches long and twenty-four inches wide, sits at comfortable height for a seated person, approximately sixteen inches from the floor, upon this table surface rests a dark wooden bowl with warm chocolate-brown tones and a clear glass vase containing delicate bare branches with small leaves suggesting early spring growth, these natural elements introduce organic irregularity with thin brown stems reaching upward and outward like calligraphy. A textured area rug in neutral tan extends beneath the table, its low pile suggesting wool or synthetic fiber with subtle pattern, soft as worn cotton. The right wall features tall sheer white curtains filtering diffused natural daylight that reads as soft and cool like northern exposure or overcast conditions, this filtered illumination gentle as morning mist. The floor throughout appears as natural wood planks in warm honey tones with visible grain running parallel to the picture plane, the surface smooth as sanded maple with satin finish that suggests warmth underfoot. At lower right, partially visible upholstered furniture in pale cream or ivory suggests a sofa or seating area with soft fabric like brushed cotton or linen, comfortable and inviting. The overall atmosphere feels tranquil and still as if early morning before household activity begins, the warm lighting suggests coziness and shelter, the generous spacing between elements and absence of visual clutter creates sense of breathing room and calm, the integration of natural materials and organic forms alongside refined architectural geometry proposes a balanced environment supporting both aesthetic appreciation and daily living comfort, temperature feeling moderate and comfortable, air quality fresh with implied stillness, the space inviting quiet activities like reading, conversation, or contemplative rest.

The homeowners desired a cozy atmosphere. To achieve this, the designer used warm wood materials and indirect lighting, creating a comfortable environment. Inspired by the couple's charming appearance, arc-shaped designs were incorporated into the living area's TV wall and ceiling, reflecting their style. An open-plan living and dining area promotes family interaction. The expanded kitchen entrance, featuring a gray glass sliding door, allows parents to monitor their children.
