Silver A' Design Award Winner 2025
Listeners will encounter a photograph of a children's bed positioned within a nursery, the bed occupying the central lower portion of the image with its length running horizontally from left to right. The bed frame combines two materials: a white painted outer structure that forms a rectangular box shape, and warm honey-colored wooden elements including slatted railings and spherical feet. Beginning at the left edge of the bed, rounded wooden spindles rise vertically like the bars of a gentle fence, their color resembling golden maple syrup or light amber, smooth to the touch as polished wood. These spindles curve gracefully at the top where they meet a horizontal rail, and this protective barrier extends along the headboard and footboard areas but leaves the long front side partially open for easy access. A white mattress with fitted sheet sits snugly within the frame, its surface crisp and cool like fresh linens. Four ball-shaped feet support the bed, their pale wood finish suggesting the soft warmth of sanded birch. The floor beneath is light-colored planking with subtle grain patterns, feeling like smooth hardwood underfoot. Moving upward, a cream-colored wall panel with vertical ribbing rises behind the bed, its texture resembling fine corduroy or pleated fabric. Above this panel, a decorative mural unfolds across the wall, depicting a world map in muted colors, the land masses rendered in soft sage green and warm beige against a sky-like background of gentle blue-gray. Scattered across this map are illustrations of hot air balloons in stripes of coral and cream, vintage biplanes in dusty rose, and various animals positioned near their native regions. In the foreground right, a circular rug commands attention, its deep navy surface marked with concentric rings suggesting planetary orbits, with circles of warm yellow, bright red, and grass green representing celestial bodies. The lighting throughout appears soft and even, creating a gentle atmosphere without harsh shadows.
