David Tao Soul Power II Concert

Golden A' Design Award Winner 2025

Scanning from background to foreground, this large-scale concert stage photograph captures a moment of climactic celebration within a vast indoor arena venue. The uppermost portion of the image presents a saturated blue atmospheric field, rich as twilight sky or deep ocean water, filled with thousands of small metallic confetti pieces that sparkle and catch light as they descend through the illuminated space, creating a sensation of gentle rainfall made of glittering particles. The central background features an enormous LED screen displaying bold graphic typography spelling "LOVE" in rounded, friendly letterforms the color of pale mint and seafoam. At center, a warm golden-yellow peace symbol replaces the letter O, radiating like captured sunlight against the cool blue surroundings. Below this symbol, a large hand gesture forming a peace sign emerges in warm yellow tones suggesting butter or daffodils, creating the focal point of the entire composition. Flanking the central stage area, geometric angular forms rise like stylized crowns or mountain peaks, rendered in bright acidic yellow-green reminiscent of new spring growth or lime flesh. These architectural elements frame the composition and create visual rhythm across the wide horizontal format. The middle ground reveals the stage platform where musicians appear as small figures, their scale emphasizing the monumental dimensions of this theatrical environment. Atmospheric haze catches the blue-tinted lighting, creating a misty quality like morning fog suffused with colored light. The foreground occupies approximately the lower third of the image, presenting hundreds of audience members visible as dark silhouettes, their forms distinguished primarily by raised arms holding glowing rectangular mobile phones and elongated pink light sticks that pulse with warm magenta luminosity. The collective gesture of raised arms creates a rhythmic pattern suggesting waves or a forest of reaching branches. The overall atmosphere conveys euphoric celebration, communal joy, and the warm sensation of shared experience within an enveloping blue twilight punctuated by golden warmth.

In 2003, David Tao's Soul Power concert was hailed as legendary. Eleven years later, Soul Power II was conceived to recapture the essence of live music and the artist's soul. More than a remake or upgrade, Soul Power II is driven by a profound understanding of the artist's unique spirit, aiming to craft a heartfelt experience for modern concert goers. Inspired by the Tower of Babel, the stage features an 8 meter turntable with eight columns, using love to connect people globally. The flexible segments and dynamic stage design create an immersive, powerful musical journey.
