Platinum A' Design Award Winner 2025
This immersive data visualization environment presents itself as a generous horizontal volume measuring approximately six meters wide and three meters tall, oriented frontally to the viewer with pronounced one-point perspective created by a ceiling composed of parallel dark charcoal battens alternating with narrow illuminated gaps that recede toward a distant vanishing point deep in the space, creating a rhythmic striped pattern overhead with warm golden light glowing between the dark structural elements and occasional glimpses of cool turquoise luminescence suggesting concealed lighting layers above. Scanning from top to bottom, the ceiling treatment occupies roughly the upper quarter of the view, its strict horizontal linearity establishing strong directional pull toward the spatial depth while small square recessed fixtures punctuate the dark batten intervals at regular spacing, their downward illumination contributing to the ambient glow below. The central focus of the environment, occupying the broad middle register from left edge to right edge, consists of an expansive multimedia display surface presenting a panoramic landscape or terrain visualization dominated by saturated cyan and teal blue-greens suggesting water, vegetation, or digitally color-coded topographic information, punctuated by areas of emerald green implying dense foliage or elevated terrain, burnt umber and warm ochre earth tones suggesting bare ground or built structures, and scattered darker patches reading as shadow or depth variation; this landscape appears simultaneously as three-dimensional rendered terrain with subtle elevation modeling and as flattened cartographic abstraction, the imagery suggesting aerial photography or satellite view subjected to chromatic enhancement or data visualization processing. Floating across this landscape substrate at evenly spaced intervals, five circular interface elements approximately one meter in diameter organize information into distinct zones, each circle defined by a luminous white ring that glows with soft radiance like backlit frosted glass or LED edge-lighting, the white rings appearing cool in temperature and bright enough to create subtle halation effects against the darker surroundings. Within each circular boundary, dense blocks of text rendered in white sans-serif typeface appear against semi-transparent charcoal backgrounds, the text organized in hierarchical clusters suggesting headings, numerical data, and descriptive content though individual characters remain too small to read clearly at this distance, the overall effect suggesting data dashboards, statistical summaries, or informational overlays characteristic of analytical interfaces or augmented reality systems. Below the elevated display spanning the horizontal center, warm honey-colored wood flooring extends across the lower third of the composition, its individual planks running horizontally parallel to the picture plane and catching golden ambient light that makes the wood surface glow with inviting warmth, smooth and polished as if sealed with satin finish, the floor's materiality providing tactile groundedness and human-scale reference that contrasts with the technological precision above. Scattered irregularly along the base of the display surface where it meets the floor, approximately eight small dark forms suggest potted plants or low sculptural objects, their organic silhouettes introducing irregular natural punctuation against the geometry of architectural and digital elements, these objects appearing as deep shadow masses without internal detail at this illumination level. Moving from left toward center across the warm wooden floor, a human figure captured in motion blur traverses the space, their form rendered as ghostly semi-transparency suggesting walking movement during extended camera exposure, the figure's indistinct silhouette reading as approximately adult height, wearing dark clothing, and moving with purposeful stride, their blurred presence establishing the scale of the environment as generous and navigable while their transparency suggests transience, the passing nature of individual moments within persistent architectural and informational frameworks. The lighting throughout the space operates on multiple registers: warm golden glow emanates from the recessed strips between ceiling battens creating diffuse ambient illumination that feels gentle as late afternoon sunlight filtering through sheer curtains, cool cyan luminescence radiates from the landscape display surface itself with the quality of backlit screens or projection surfaces, the circular interface rings emit localized bright white light with the coolness of LED sources, and overall ambient light levels remain moderate allowing both architectural elements and display content to read clearly without harsh contrast or eye strain. The atmosphere suggests controlled climate, stillness without drafts, the quiet hum of technology imperceptible but implied, and the sense of purposeful space designed for extended contemplation rather than hurried passage, the scale feeling generous enough for multiple simultaneous viewers to occupy different zones without crowding, the warm wood underfoot implying solid construction and stability, while the technological displays suggest connection to vast data resources and real-time information streams extending beyond the immediate physical boundaries of this particular installation space, inviting visitors to pause, approach the luminous circular nodes, and engage with the layered information presented across this sophisticated merger of architectural environment and interactive digital content.
This system, integrated with 3D GIS and real-time rendering technology, has constructed a visualization system that combines natural aesthetics with modern design. The 18 meter long interactive large screen, equipped with AI, responds to different solar terms and festivals, changing digital scenes to create an immersive reading experience. The application of 3D simulation and digital twin technology enhances the user interaction experience. This design not only promotes cultural exchange but also reflects the innovation and progress of the library in the process of intelligent development.
