At floor level, a low horizontal cabinet in deep charcoal gray, nearly black, spans the composition's width, appearing smooth and matte with a substantial presence, its surface cool to the touch one imagines, like fine powder-coated metal or lacquered wood, rising perhaps two feet from the floor.
