China Overseas Yongding Jiuli Residential Display Area

Platinum A' Design Award Winner 2025

This landscape architectural photograph presents a contemporary residential display courtyard in a square format, captured during soft afternoon light. Scanning from left to right, the composition opens with a tall rectangular screen wall constructed of sandstone-colored material, warm as wheat or pale caramel, featuring a regular pattern of vertical rectangular openings that create a woven texture reminiscent of traditional lattice work. Raised metallic characters in a deeper bronze tone are mounted on this screen, their dimensional quality catching light. Below the screen, a shallow water feature extends across the lower left quadrant, its surface dark and reflective like polished obsidian, with a cascading edge where water falls in thin sheets producing what one might imagine as a gentle continuous murmur. A large natural stone, perhaps two feet in length, rests within the water basin, its surface revealing swirling patterns of charcoal, graphite, and silver like frozen storm clouds in stone. Moving rightward to the middle ground, a carefully shaped tree with smooth tan bark extends horizontal branches within a curved raised planter bed edged in dark bronze metal, the bed filled with emerald green groundcover. The tree's form suggests patient cultivation over many years, each branch directed to create an umbrella-like canopy of spring-green leaves. Stone walls of varying textures create the background, including rough-cut blocks the color of wet concrete and smoother polished surfaces. Geometric pavers in cool gray tones create interlocking diamond patterns across the ground plane. In the far background, contemporary buildings with horizontal roof lines and large windows are partially visible through bamboo screening and lush green foliage. The overall atmosphere feels tranquil and refined, cool stone and warm wood balanced by living green and reflective water, a space designed for quiet contemplation.

Featuring the thematic characteristics of shallow mountains and picturesque landscapes, the design of this resort residence is inspired by Pictures of Travelers Among Mountains and Streams. The overall space design is based on the terraced landscape, creating a three dimensional migratory garden tour route. The flying rainbow corridor bridge, the flowing waterfall landscape wall, and the layers of woodland scenery spreading out, jointly create a resort residence that feels like walking through the woods into a painting.
