Bronze A' Design Award Winner 2025
Entering this residential space, your perspective begins at the upper register where an elaborately textured ceiling extends across the full width of the room, its surface covered in a continuous pattern of raised curved shapes resembling soft clouds or stylized flowers, each element gently rounded and creating subtle shadows that give the flat ceiling a sense of sculptural depth, all rendered in pale gray tones with crisp white edges defining each module. Moving downward, the middle zone presents layered window treatments on the right side: sheer white or cream curtains closest to the window allowing diffused natural light to filter through with a soft glow suggesting daytime illumination, behind which hang heavier panels in muted greenish-gray decorated with delicate painted or printed imagery of slender branches, small blossoms, and birds, the fabric possessing a slight sheen like silk or satin and falling in gentle vertical folds to the floor. These windows extend floor to ceiling, their generous height emphasizing the room's vertical dimension and allowing abundant natural light that feels neither harsh nor dim but gently ambient, like an overcast afternoon or light filtered through translucent shades. In the foreground, occupying the central and right portions of the view, a seating arrangement centers on a large rectangular coffee table with a dark bronze or blackened metal finish, its base composed of geometric open framework resembling interconnected rectangular forms creating negative space you could see through, the surface smooth and reflective catching subtle light. This table sits atop a low-pile area rug in soft blue-gray tones, its texture appearing smooth and slightly plush like fine wool. To the left of the table, a sofa upholstered in neutral beige or light taupe fabric features deep button tufting creating a quilted surface pattern, the fabric appearing soft as chenille or velvet, dressed with several throw pillows including cream textured ones and one saturated golden yellow pillow providing a warm color accent like the hue of marigolds or sunlit amber. On the right, a longer sofa in deep charcoal gray, nearly black, presents clean-lined modern proportions with a smooth matte fabric surface like cotton or linen, also dressed with pale cream pillows. On the coffee table, a sculptural gold-toned decorative object resembling a shell or leaf form sits beside a small rectangular tray, and white hydrangea blooms in a low vessel add organic texture with their clustered spherical flower heads. To the left of the seating area, a table lamp with a rounded ceramic base in dusty blue-gray and a white drum shade provides additional light, its finish appearing smooth and slightly glossy. Beyond the foreground seating area, the middle ground opens to a dining or work zone where a table edge is visible, backed by open shelving in dark wood tones displaying books, decorative objects, and white ceramic pieces, the shelving appearing as horizontal planes creating regular intervals, warm wood grain visible in the construction. Above this zone, a linear chandelier with a gold or brass frame suspends crystal or glass pendant elements that would catch and refract light, creating subtle sparkle. The floor throughout appears as wood planks in warm honey or caramel tones, their surface possessing a slight sheen suggesting a satin finish, the grain pattern running horizontally across the space. The overall atmosphere feels serene, refined, and quietly luxurious, with temperature balanced between the warm honey floors, cream and beige upholstery, and golden accents, and the cooler gray ceiling, charcoal sofa, and blue-toned lamp and rug, creating neither distinctly warm nor cool but a harmonious temperate quality like a comfortable spring day indoors, the space suggesting stillness, the quiet of a well-appointed private residence during peaceful daytime hours.
This home blends classical and modern elements to meet the needs of a six member family. An open layout shapes the living areas, creating a shared space for connection. With a narrow layout, bedrooms are placed at opposite ends, with a central living space for balance. The entryway features marble inlays and mirrored wall panels, establishing a visual identity. Inside, engineered wood flooring contrasts with architectural elements such as Roman columns, a fireplace, and hand-painted wallcoverings to shape the space.
