This audio description presents a restaurant interior within a hotel, viewed from a standing position looking down a dramatic vaulted corridor. Scanning from the immediate foreground backward, the space unfolds through a series of pointed Gothic-style arches that create a rhythmic sequence of framed spaces leading toward a glowing golden backdrop. In the foreground, occupying roughly the lower third of the view, several dining tables stand arranged for service. These tables feature dark lacquered surfaces, smooth and reflective like polished obsidian, set with ceramic dishware in soft sage green tones reminiscent of celadon pottery. Metallic utensils catch subtle highlights. Surrounding each table, chairs alternate between two styles: some upholstered in deep teal leather suggesting cool water or peacock feathers, their surfaces appearing supple and slightly lustrous, while others feature striking abstract patterned fabric in black, cream, and gray tones that suggests ink wash or weathered stone textures. Chair legs taper elegantly in dark wood or metal. Moving through the primary arch, which rises overhead with the pointed elegance of a cathedral window, the middle ground reveals additional dining arrangements. Here burgundy velvet armchairs appear, their color warm as aged wine, clustered in an intimate grouping. Dried pampas grass plumes rise from vessels, their feathery cream-colored heads soft as clouds, adding organic height and natural texture. The architectural surfaces throughout feel smooth and cool, finished in warm cream plaster tones suggesting fresh butter or aged ivory. Integrated lighting traces each arch profile with warm white illumination, creating gentle halos that emphasize the structural curves. The ceiling rises high within these vaulted forms, painted in matching cream. Along the right side, a service corridor extends with geometric floor tiles in cream and warm tan creating a woven pattern underfoot, while open shelving displays stacked ceramics and service equipment. The distant focal point presents a golden latticed screen glowing warmly like honeycomb held to afternoon light, suggesting hidden spaces beyond while providing visual warmth and closure.
The main theme of the design is frontier spirit, a pioneer for the development of Sapporo, and the brewmasters, an important figure in the brewing of beer and one of the businesses of the pioneers. The two are set as the characters within the story of the design to create a subliminal atmosphere of the passion and exuberance of those days, and the artistic chaos of modernization, where Japanese and Western influences, past and future, are mixed together. The design aims to be a new base connecting Sapporo's past and future and to contribute to the further development of the region.
