Huawei Flagship Store Tianjin Binhai Road

Silver A' Design Award Winner 2024

Scanning from the viewer's elevated vantage point looking down into a double-height retail interior, this architectural photograph presents a symmetrical corridor space approximately fifteen meters deep. The dominant feature is a floor-to-ceiling living wall at the composition's center, spanning roughly four meters wide and reaching perhaps eight meters in height. This moss installation displays undulating curved patterns in varied greens: bright yellow-green like spring grass flows alongside deeper tones resembling forest moss, creating topographic contours that feel soft and cushioned, as if one could press fingers into their spongy surface. Flanking this central green panel, warm honey-colored wood cladding covers the walls at viewer level on both left and right, smooth as polished furniture with a gentle warmth suggesting sunlight stored in timber grain. The floor below appears as pale creamy grey, smooth and cool as polished stone, reflecting subtle ambient light. Two figures walk away from the viewer toward the moss wall: one wears dark clothing, the other lighter grey, both slightly blurred suggesting gentle forward movement. Their scale reveals the generous proportions, their heads reaching perhaps one-sixth the total wall height. Above, rectangular ceiling coffers glow with soft white light resembling overcast sky, cool and even, creating the sensation of being outdoors under bright clouds. Living trees with small green leaves frame the immediate foreground on both left and right, their foliage fresh and verdant, introducing organic asymmetry to the architectural geometry. Beyond the moss wall, glimpsed through openings at mid-height, additional retail spaces contain people seated at tables and tropical plants, suggesting depth and activity beyond this contemplative threshold. The overall atmosphere feels hushed and sanctuary-like, the air seemingly fresh with implied botanical fragrance.
