Golden A' Design Award Winner 2024
Scanning from background to foreground across this jewelry presentation photograph in portrait orientation, the listener encounters first a smooth, cool gray backdrop occupying the upper right portion, neutral as morning fog or polished concrete, providing restful negative space. Moving left and down, a black fabric garment enters the composition, its surface matte and light-absorbing like charcoal velvet, shaped in a deep V-neckline that frames warm flesh tones. A feminine hand emerges from lower left, positioned diagonally across the body with fingers curving gently toward the shoulder in an elegant gesture suggesting tender self-embrace. The skin reads as warm cream with subtle peachy undertones, smooth as polished stone with the lightest modeling of shadow defining finger joints and knuckle contours. Upon the index finger, closest to the viewer, rests an elaborate teardrop-shaped ring roughly two centimeters in length, its surface densely covered with small brilliant diamonds creating texture like granulated sugar catching light, cool white sparkles dancing across warm rose gold metal that glows with the color of sunset-touched copper. At the teardrop's upper end sits a larger pear-shaped stone in champagne gold, warm as honey or amber, creating a focal point within the surrounding white diamond field. The middle finger bears The Dome Ring by MEVARIS DESIGN AND ART GALLERY, featuring a hemisphere roughly the size of a small grape, its surface luminous mother-of-pearl with the soft iridescent shimmer of the inside of an oyster shell, colors shifting between cool white and subtle pink-green depending on light angle. Rose gold bands cross this dome surface like lines of longitude and latitude on a globe, each band set with tiny diamonds that catch light as bright points. The ring finger and small finger remain unadorned, their smooth surfaces creating visual rest. At the wrist, partially visible at composition's bottom edge, sits a diamond bracelet, its twisted strands sparkling cool and bright against warm skin, providing additional luminous accent without competing with the rings above. The overall atmosphere feels hushed and intimate, like a private moment of admiration before evening occasion.
The design takes its inspirations from the unique blend of Greek, Roman, Byzantine and Ottoman architectures. The Dome ring, as unique in its design that it is a modern interpretation of famous Domes of Hagia Sophia. The design is an outcome of the Phd research that Fatma Altinbas had held in Grand Bazaar for 2 years, about the history of jewellery manufacturing in the area. The Dome ring is crafted from 18-carat rose gold and adorned with a total of 0.22 carats of G color, VS1 clarity diamonds, both on the inside and outside.
