Silver A' Design Award Winner 2024
A contemporary residential living space unfolds before the viewer, organized around a striking fireplace that anchors the composition. Beginning at center, a tall rectangular fireplace surround rises from floor to ceiling, clad in dramatic black marble shot through with bold white veining that sweeps diagonally from upper left to lower right like a lightning strike frozen in stone. The fireplace opening itself appears as a dark rectangular void at lower center, with stacked firewood visible within. Descending before this dark backdrop, three pendant lights hang at staggered heights, their forms resembling molten spheres of copper with irregular, flowing surfaces that catch light and create warm amber reflections suggesting heated metal or liquid honey captured mid-ripple. Moving leftward, a floor-to-ceiling glass shelving unit with thin transparent shelves holds an arrangement of books with colorful spines in red, blue, and neutral tones, along with small decorative objects. Behind this transparent structure, glimpses of additional space and furniture are visible. To the right of the fireplace, built-in shelving in soft dove gray extends across the wall, featuring a grid of open compartments holding books and objects, with closed cabinet storage below finished in ribbed gray panels. The foreground presents a seating arrangement on warm honey-toned wooden flooring laid in a herringbone pattern creating subtle zigzag texture. Two armchairs in rich cognac leather occupy the right foreground, their curved forms suggesting substantial cushioning with tubular shapes wrapped in leather smooth as saddle leather. Between the seating pieces, a circular ottoman in oatmeal-colored fabric offers soft texture like coarse wool. A small side table in glossy burnt orange provides an accent. The overall atmosphere feels warm yet sophisticated, with light appearing soft and diffused throughout.
