Golden A' Design Award Winner 2024
This sweeping restaurant interior unfolds before you as a generous rectangular dining hall approximately twice as wide as it is deep, dominated by an extraordinary geometric ceiling that commands immediate attention. Scanning from top to bottom, the ceiling presents a grid of warm, honey-colored acoustic panels, each bearing linear white LED lights arranged in concentric rectangular patterns, some forming nested squares, others creating angular chevrons, the combined effect suggesting a constellation of luminous geometry floating overhead. The warmth of this golden canopy, reminiscent of sunlit sandstone, contrasts with the cooler purple and blue glow emanating from the distant bar area, creating a temperature gradient from warm foreground to cool atmospheric depth. Moving your attention downward and toward the back of the space, a fully stocked bar with backlit shelving in violet and magenta hues serves as the visual destination point, bottles silhouetted against the chromatic glow like jewels in a display case. The middle ground contains orderly rows of dining tables dressed in dark surfaces, each bearing ceramic plates in sage green and cream, delicate stemware catching ambient light, and slender metallic table lamps with cream fabric shades casting intimate pools of golden warmth. Seating throughout combines plush velvet armchairs in dusty rose and burgundy with charcoal gray upholstered banquettes, their soft textures inviting touch like brushed suede. To the far left, a sculptural installation of silvery cascading elements resembling origami butterflies or metallic flower petals catches warm overhead light, introducing organic movement against the geometric precision above. The floor alternates between dark slate-gray tiles and decorative inset sections featuring traditional scrollwork patterns in cream and charcoal. Glass block architectural elements at the right edge glow with diffused daylight, while arched wall niches framed with trailing green foliage create garden-like vignettes. The atmosphere feels simultaneously theatrical and intimate, cool and warm, structured and welcoming.
The Norblin Factory, a 2-hectare site in Warsaw's Wola district, holds a unique history. Formerly neglected, it's now a bustling city hub featuring offices, shops, restaurants, cafes, Food Town, an eco-bazaar, a boutique cinema, and an open-air museum. This museum commemorates the history of one of the largest industrial enterprises in the former Kingdom of Poland. Notably, the factory's main production area, once dedicated to cutlery, has been transformed into a distinctive restaurant, seamlessly blending the industrial past with modern spaces.
