Silver A' Design Award Winner 2024
A contemporary automotive showroom interior unfolds before us, dominated by an elaborate suspended ceiling system of warm brown timber battens that cascade diagonally across the upper portion of the space like a carefully arranged architectural canopy. Scanning from left to right, the foreground features a prominent luxury sedan finished in deep blue, reminiscent of twilight sky or sapphire gemstone, positioned on flooring so dark and polished it resembles still water at night, reflecting the vehicle above. The car's surface appears smooth and cool to imagined touch, with curved bodywork catching light along its flanks. Moving rightward, the space opens to reveal additional vehicles in the middle ground and background, including darker models that read as charcoal and silver tones. The timber ceiling elements progress from densely spaced groupings overhead toward more open arrangements in the distance, creating rhythm like musical notation across a staff. The wood itself appears warm as sun-touched bark, with horizontal grain suggesting the tactile experience of polished walnut. White painted walls and ceiling surfaces between the timber elements feel bright and cool, like fresh snow or clean cotton. Natural daylight streams through tall windows at the far right, filling that zone with soft luminosity suggesting morning light. Linear LED fixtures embedded within the timber framework cast even, shadowless illumination downward, creating an atmosphere of quiet clarity. The overall environment feels spacious yet intimate, with ceiling heights that vary according to the timber density above, suggesting protective shelter in some zones and expansive openness in others.
The entire project is designed based on a unique and penetrating circular motion line. The ceilings on the first and second floors are covered with blue acrylic transparent panels. The shape not only symbolizes the dynamic driving trajectory of BMW racing cars, but also means flowing water ripples, echoing the water landscape composed of a water curtain and a pool. BMW's iconic three-color slash bar becomes a partition and stands proudly on the waterside, with the noumenon and mirror blended together perfectly, making people experience the movement in static state.
