Bronze A' Design Award Winner 2025
Beginning with overall spatial orientation, this environmental branding installation occupies a contemporary urban architectural threshold, a covered pedestrian passage or arcade approximately twenty feet in height and perhaps sixty feet in width, where a sophisticated multi-layered visual communication system transforms functional circulation space into immersive cultural narrative. Scanning from top to bottom through three distinct spatial registers, the upper third presents a rhythmic colonnade of vertical LED matrix panels, each panel roughly six feet wide and fifteen feet tall, arranged in alternating color sequence, brilliant red as warm as celebration lanterns glowing at dusk followed by deep charcoal black providing visual pause then fresh mint green cool as jade or spring leaves, this pattern repeating across the visible width creating steady visual rhythm like drumbeat or architectural colonnade, the LED surfaces appearing granular and pixelated up close but reading as unified glowing color fields at this viewing distance, each individual light node contributing to larger chromatic plane, warm illumination radiating downward from red panels while green panels cast cooler tinted light, black panels receding into shadow, the overall effect suggesting contemporary interpretation of traditional decorative architecture transformed through digital display technology. Moving to the middle register, a large horizontal rectangular surface perhaps twelve feet wide and six feet tall appears suspended or mounted at approximately twelve feet above ground level, this surface functioning as projection screen or digital display presenting carefully composed cultural heritage photograph, the image depicting traditional wooden architectural detail, rich brown timber weathered to warm umber like honey or aged cognac, intricate joinery and carved signage suggesting preserved historical structure, grey stone foundation or tiled roof visible at edges, the photograph framed by clean white border roughly one foot wide on all sides creating breathing room and establishing clear figure-ground relationship, vertical text running along right margin in elegant black calligraphy providing informational content, the overall composition balanced and dignified like museum exhibition panel, warm tones of historical photograph contrasting beautifully with cool technological surfaces surrounding it. Progressing to the lower third and foreground, the polished pavement stretches smooth and reflective like still water or wet stone, grey porcelain or granite surface catching and mirroring colored light from LED installation above, creating pools of reflected red glow here, mint green shimmer there, approximately fifteen silhouetted figures populate this ground plane, pedestrians in motion moving left to right and right to left, their forms rendered dark as charcoal sketches or shadow puppets, some walking briskly with slight motion blur suggesting speed and temporal passage, others standing in conversation clusters, one small figure in bright green jacket providing single chromatic accent among otherwise neutral-clothed crowd, human scale providing important size reference suggesting each figure stands roughly five to six feet tall making the architectural elements above proportionally monumental, beyond the immediate foreground transparent glass walls reveal illuminated retail or commercial spaces, warm yellow light glowing from storefronts, soft green foliage visible suggesting interior plantings or exterior landscape beyond glass, these background elements receding into softer focus establishing atmospheric depth. The overall spatial experience feels simultaneously grand and accessible, the towering LED installation and large-scale photographic display creating monumental architectural presence that commands attention from distance while the active pedestrian movement and human-scale passage maintain intimate usability and social vitality, colored light washing over moving figures creates sense of immersion and participation rather than mere observation, the space functioning as genuine urban threshold where people gather, pass through, pause, and engage, not static display but activated environment. Temperature ranges from warm inviting red glow suggesting festivity or celebration through neutral grey stone coolness of pavement to fresh green suggesting nature or renewal, the historical photograph's warm brown timber tones adding layer of aged material warmth like sun-heated wood or worn leather, overall atmosphere balances technological brightness with cultural depth, contemporary energy with historical weight, the illumination suggesting early evening when architectural lighting gains maximum impact, cool blue twilight perhaps visible beyond glass walls making interior warmth more pronounced, the scene pulses with gentle urban vitality, implied sounds might include footsteps echoing on hard pavement, quiet conversation murmur, perhaps distant street sounds filtering through glass, the space feeling neither silent nor chaotic but comfortably inhabited, air likely moving gently through this corridor space carrying slight breeze, environmental comfort maintained for pedestrian passage, the overall sensory impression balancing visual richness with spatial clarity, chromatic excitement with compositional order, creating memorable place experience that communicates cultural identity through carefully orchestrated environmental design.
This project aims to create the city brand image. In the design concept, it achieves a balance between two elements: Taishun forms an open and variable tangible part, while white space becomes the intangible part. To meet the diverse application needs of city brand construction, this logo can be interpreted with variations in lines and strong recognition through spatial design, symbolizing the infinite possibilities of the city and having great potential for development.
