Boundless Forest Reception Center

Silver A' Design Award Winner 2024

This interior space presents a reception hall photographed from a position looking down a long corridor that extends away from the viewer toward the background, scanning from left to right across the composition reveals a colonnade of warm honey-colored wood columns that march in regular rhythm along the left side, their surfaces smooth as polished bamboo and glowing with the warmth of sunlit amber, the columns rise from a floor of pale gray polished concrete that feels cool and smooth underfoot like river-washed stone, extending the full depth of the space in unbroken continuity, behind the columns tall panels of vertically ridged translucent glass filter daylight into soft milky luminosity like morning mist through a forest canopy, small wall-mounted light fixtures with geometric brass fretwork patterns emit warm golden pools of light against the darker wall surfaces, the ceiling overhead presents a dramatic contrast executed in deep charcoal gray with linear recessed channels running parallel to the corridor's length, from this dark ceiling plane slender cylindrical pendant lights descend on thin cables at varying heights like rain drops frozen in descent, their metallic surfaces cool as brushed aluminum, moving to the right side of the composition a substantial reception desk dominates the middle ground, its front face composed of horizontal wood slats in the same honey tone as the columns alternating with shadow gaps creating a striped rhythm, the desk wraps around a cylindrical column and steps up in height toward the background, behind the desk rises a dramatic panel of gray marble with white and darker veining that feels cool and substantial as mountain stone, above the marble surface appear traditional characters in a vertical arrangement, the overall atmosphere suggests quiet anticipation like a forest glade at dawn, the warm wood temperatures balanced against cool stone and gray creating a space that feels both welcoming and contemplative, the lighting throughout appears soft and diffused without harsh shadows, creating gentle warmth throughout the space.

Presents the philosophical symbolism of form in the space, concretely presenting oriental ideas in various places. Among them, the circular window view in the shared space leads greenery into the room, and the screen in one of the show apartments coincidentally forms an echo between the solid and the void. When the physical wall of the shared space is removed and replaced with a window view, the entire foundation can be seen to be embraced by the planting.
