B. League All-Star Game 2023 Op Art

Platinum A' Design Award Winner 2024

Scanning from upper left to lower right through a vast indoor arena space, a massive rectangular display structure hangs suspended from the darkened industrial ceiling, its surface covered entirely with a grid of colorful square graphics. Each square contains a different pattern: some feature black and white spiraling lines that create dizzying optical effects, others display warm orange and yellow radiating sunbursts like stylized suns, still others show cool blue concentric circles or vibrant rainbow arcs curving upward. The colors feel energetic and celebratory, with reds as warm as ripe tomatoes, yellows bright as summer sunshine, blues cool as clear sky, and greens fresh as spring leaves. Moving toward the center and right of the scene, multiple brilliant white spotlight beams cut through the darkness like solid geometric rays, creating star-shaped patterns where they intersect. The beams feel sharp and precise against the soft darkness of the upper space. In the background, a stage area displays additional panels featuring the same colorful graphic motifs at smaller scale, creating visual continuity throughout the space. The lower portion of the scene reveals a basketball court surface with the warm, smooth texture of polished hardwood, its honey-golden tone reflecting pools of colored light in soft pink, green, and amber hues. The wood surface feels solid and grounding beneath the visual spectacle above. The overall atmosphere combines the industrial coolness of exposed ceiling infrastructure with the warm energy of the colorful graphics and theatrical lighting, creating a sense of anticipation and celebration. The space feels enormous yet unified, with every surface contributing to a cohesive visual experience that surrounds and embraces viewers with chromatic energy.

B. League is Japan's premier basketball league. Op art is an abstract painting calculated to create a special visual effect. Each square depicts a visual image related to basketball, as well as buildings and landmarks that symbolize Mito, the host city. The animation is so dynamic that the eye cannot keep up. The audience was drawn into an exciting immersive experience. The level of basketball in Japan has evolved dramatically in recent years, and the league has seen a dramatic increase in attendance, as well as the demand for high quality in key art and venue production.
