A contemporary residential interior viewed from an elevated seating area, looking toward a central double-height atrium with a living tree and ascending staircase. The space radiates openness and calm. Scanning from foreground to background: in the immediate foreground, a low built-in sofa stretches across the lower portion of the view, upholstered in soft gray fabric with a velvety appearance suggesting the tactile quality of suede or brushed cotton, with two square cushions in matching gray tones. The sofa base appears to be concrete, smooth and cool to the touch. To the right of the seating, a small wooden side table in warm honey-brown tones provides contrast. Moving into the middle ground, the central feature commands attention: a slender deciduous tree rises from a rectangular planter box bordered by warm reddish-brown wood, its delicate branches reaching upward through the vertical void, leaves appearing fresh and spring-like in pale green tones. White river stones surround the base of the tree, suggesting smoothness and coolness. The planter is set into the floor, creating a visual connection between interior and earth. Behind and to the right of the tree, a staircase ascends diagonally from lower left to upper right, its treads appearing to float, constructed of warm wood matching the planter border, supported by a black steel frame. The handrail combines black metal posts with a wooden top rail in the same warm tone. Glass panels provide safety barriers while maintaining transparency. The walls throughout are painted pure white, creating luminous surfaces that reflect abundant natural light entering from a large skylight visible at the upper left. The ceiling planes step back at different levels, revealing the multi-story nature of the space. A wooden door at ground level provides warm accent against the white walls. The overall atmosphere suggests quiet sanctuary, with diffused daylight creating soft shadows and a sense of gentle warmth throughout the contemplative space.
This is originally a row house for decades, which is attached to one of the row houses in the block. The total length of the row house is about 30 meters. The original building structure is divided into two buildings at the front and back by the light well in the middle. The original light well only served as the function of additional day-lighting, which is surrounded by negative spaces such as stairs and toilets. The front of the row house faces the narrow and dense commercial street, and the backyard is used as the main entrance of the house.
