Embrasse Moi Sculpture Lamp

Platinum A' Design Award Winner 2025

This audio description presents a tall sculptural lamp installed within a grand interior stairwell, formatted as a vertical photograph showing multiple levels of an elegant classical space. Scanning from the uppermost visible portion, a white coffered ceiling with delicate molding profiles establishes the architectural character as refined and historically informed. Immediately below, the eye encounters the beginning of a dramatic twisted metallic sculpture that serves as both artwork and light source, its warm golden surface catching illumination and appearing to glow with the rich warmth of afternoon sunlight on polished brass. The sculptural element descends through the full height of the visible space, perhaps spanning three or more stories, its form resembling a continuous ribbon of metal that has been twisted and folded into a spiraling helix, the curves flowing smoothly into one another with the fluid grace of calligraphic gesture or windblown silk frozen in mid-motion. Along the inner edge of this metallic ribbon runs a continuous strip of warm white light, creating a glowing line that traces the sculpture's path and provides soft ambient illumination to the surrounding stairwell. The walls throughout are clad in large rectangular tiles of pale stone, their surface smooth and cool to imagined touch, colored in soft cream and buff tones like weathered parchment or natural limestone warmed by southern light. To the left, a sweeping staircase ascends diagonally, its treads appearing to be the same pale stone as the walls, bordered by elaborate wrought-iron balustrades finished in deep charcoal black, the metalwork featuring intricate scrolling patterns, repeated vertical bars, and decorative finials that suggest classical European craftsmanship. The ironwork feels simultaneously delicate and strong, the sort of material that would be cool and slightly rough under fingertips. Natural daylight enters through tall windows visible at right, their deep reveals framing views of exterior architecture beyond.

Halfway between art and design, Embrasse Moi is the majestic light sculpture whose name recalls the play on words between the English brass and the lamp's curved, enveloping shape. The suspension lamp has been handcrafted: a large sculpture in burnished brass that recalls the DNA strand, the weave of which unfolds like a fil rouge throughout the space, giving every project an artistic accent that makes it unique.
