This rectangular architectural photograph presents a contemporary residential building captured during the blue hour of early evening, its format oriented in portrait to emphasize the vertical rise of the peaked gabled form. Beginning with the overall impression, a striking house with a sharply pointed roof appears as a glowing lantern against the deepening blue sky, its interior warmth visible through an entirely glass front wall. Scanning from the environment inward, mature pine trees with dark green needle clusters and textured brown bark frame both left and right edges of the composition, their organic forms contrasting with the geometric precision of the architecture. The sky above transitions from pale blue near the horizon to deeper cerulean at the upper edge, suggesting the moments just after sunset. The building itself centers in the composition, its exterior walls clad in panels of cool blue-gray material with the smooth appearance of metal, rising to form a symmetrical peaked roof like a simplified house silhouette. The entire front face of this gabled volume consists of floor-to-ceiling glass held within a grid of thin black metal frames, creating rectangular and triangular panes that follow the roof pitch. Through this transparent wall, the interior reveals itself in warm amber and honey tones. Most prominent are the exposed wooden ceiling beams, appearing in a color like golden pine or light oak, radiating outward in parallel lines from the roof peak toward the side walls. The wood has a smooth, finished quality suggesting warmth to the touch. Behind the glass at ground level, a living space is visible with furniture including what appears to be a sofa and seating areas, illuminated by soft warm lighting that creates a temperature like afternoon sunlight or candlelight. Wall-mounted light fixtures on either side of the glass facade create pools of golden radiance. A timber deck extends forward from the glass wall, its horizontal planks in medium brown tones, where contemporary wire-frame outdoor chairs and a small round table are arranged. The overall atmosphere suggests warmth, shelter, and thoughtful design creating harmony between built form and forest setting.
Double Barn is a contemporary house located in the suburbs of Warsaw, designed for a family of four. The challenge was to create a modern, yet timeless house design, referring to the traditional architecture of Mazovia and adapting to the context of nature. In order not to overwhelm the surrounding single-family housing with its size, the house was divided into two interconnected blocks. From the inside of the house, mainly bright elements of HPL boards are visible, which makes it feel cozy. At the same time, the dark façades made of graphite tiles blend the house into the surroundings.
