Silver A' Design Award Winner 2023
Two pendant lamps float against a deep gray background that suggests twilight or a dimmed interior space, each consisting of intersecting curved mesh panels stretched over slender oval wireframes with illuminated glass spheres nestled at their centers. The larger lamp dominates the left portion, extending from the upper left corner toward the lower center, its translucent mesh surfaces describing sweeping arcs like the petals of an opening flower or orbital paths around a glowing core. The mesh material has a fine woven texture, smooth and delicate as silk organza, catching light to create a soft luminous quality reminiscent of Japanese paper lanterns or morning mist catching early sun. At the center of this larger formation, a frosted glass orb emits warm golden light with the comfortable temperature of candlelight, approximately three thousand Kelvin, casting gentle illumination through the surrounding mesh layers. A second smaller lamp hangs from a thin white cord in the right portion of the image, positioned further from the viewer, its proportions echoing the larger piece while occupying perhaps one quarter the visual area. This companion lamp also contains a glowing sphere at its heart, its light creating a secondary focal point of warmth in the cool gray atmosphere. The mesh panels intersect and overlap to create passages of varied transparency, some areas appearing more opaque where materials double, others more translucent where single layers stretch taut. The overall atmosphere suggests quiet elegance, the hushed quality of a contemplative space where light serves as gentle companion rather than harsh revelation.
Natural phenomena, objects, and substances are clear, unified, and unambiguous as they are. The perception is what gives them infinite variability, makes them unique, and allows them to reveal new interpretations. It is like a ray of light that shows exceptional facets and depth that were not visible before. In introspective psychology, the process of comprehending the feelings and emotions associated with the reactions to the surrounding reality is called reflection. This term inspired designers to create this collection and gave it the name Reflex.
