Silver A' Design Award Winner 2023
This rectangular interior photograph presents an expansive exhibition space dominated by an extraordinary sculptural ceiling installation, which we will explore by scanning from the ceiling downward to the floor. Beginning at the top, a linear ceiling composed of closely spaced parallel metal slats in cool steel gray stretches across the entire visible area, creating a rhythmic striped pattern. Suspended below this ceiling, a large sculptural element commands attention: concentric elliptical rings, roughly five visible layers, descend in a spiraling formation. The outermost ring, edged with a glowing white LED light strip warm as sunlight, traces an organic curved path. Moving inward, each subsequent ring features a rough, granular texture like weatherite pumice stone in charcoal gray tones, becoming progressively smaller as they descend toward a central opening. Through this aperture, silhouetted bare tree branches are visible against a pale sky, suggesting a window to the natural world above. At the composition's center, a cylindrical structure approximately three meters in diameter rises from the floor. Its curved surface functions as a digital display screen showing landscape imagery with terraced hillsides, waterways, and buildings in greens, blues, and earth tones. At the base of this cylinder, an oval platform displays what appears to be an architectural scale model of an urban development, rendered in white and gray miniature buildings. Surrounding this central platform, a ring of deep green living plants, dense as a forest floor, creates a natural border. The floor throughout is smooth polished terrazzo in warm gray tones, cool and solid underfoot, reflecting ambient light from above. To the right, floor-to-ceiling glass panels glow with vertical strips of teal blue light, displaying text and information like illuminated manuscripts. The overall atmosphere feels cool, contemplative, and cathedral-like in its verticality and reverence for both nature and technology.
The design team uses various design elements to achieve its goals in terms of interior space. For example, high-tech lighting, audio-visual displays, and interactive exhibits can help create a futuristic and immersive atmosphere. At the same time, incorporating natural materials such as wood, stone, and water can help create a connection with the natural environment. The park-like setting is also a great way to create an immersive experience for visitors. Visitors can enjoy corporate stories and technology by following a path through the park.
