Silver A' Design Award Winner 2022
A hospitality interior unfolds before you, dominated by an extraordinary ceiling installation that immediately commands attention through its dramatic presence and warm metallic glow. Scanning from top to bottom, the upper portion of the image reveals hundreds of cylindrical tubes suspended from above, each approximately the diameter of a large coin, finished in a warm brass or burnished gold color that suggests polished copper pennies or aged bronze jewelry. These tubes vary in length, creating an undulating wave pattern that rises and falls like a frozen ocean swell or a field of grain caught mid-ripple by wind. The tubes are densely packed, with narrow gaps between them through which darkness peeks, creating a honeycomb-like texture when viewed from below where the circular openings are visible. The metallic surface catches light unevenly, producing warm highlights that feel like late afternoon sunlight on skin alongside deeper shadows with cooler violet undertones like twilight descending. Moving toward the middle distance, the installation continues its wave-like journey through the space, the colors shifting from bright gold to deeper bronze to cool purple-brown as the light diminishes with depth. The walls flanking this corridor-like space are finished in deep charcoal gray with a matte, almost velvety appearance, smooth and cool to imagine touching. In the lower third, the functional dining area emerges: a banquette with cream-colored upholstery soft as brushed cotton lines the left wall, while wooden chairs in warm honey tones and simple rectangular tables create intimate dining arrangements. White napkins rest on tables, crisp and fresh. To the right, a circular illuminated sign glows in bright cyan and warm yellow, its neon-like quality providing a contemporary technological accent. The overall atmosphere feels warm and enveloping, like entering a golden cave or a space designed for hushed conversation and special occasions.
