Entry Building to Sberbank Entrance to Headquarters

Scanning this architectural photograph from the edges inward, two tall glass-clad towers frame the left and right sides of the composition, their surfaces appearing as deep steel blue grids dotted with warm amber spots of interior light like a field of stars against a twilight sky. These towers rise vertically beyond the upper frame edge, their horizontal floor bands creating a rhythmic ladder pattern. At center, commanding full attention, rises a magnificent arch structure shaped like an elongated horseshoe or parabola, its surface covered entirely in triangular panels that glow with the warm golden color of honey illuminated from within, suggesting the comfortable warmth of sunlit amber or polished brass. With the newly constructed building that encloses the exterior space between two existing high-rise towers the architects have created a representative entrance to the office towers that are part of Sberbank City, the new campus of the Russian bank. The hyperbolic paraboloid form delivers immense, daylight-flooded interiors, while minimizing sunlight obstruction to the offices in the towers. Both entrances are crowned in a series of triangulated panels, creating a strong design statement.
