The Rossmore Penthouse Condominium

Golden A' Design Award Winner 2021

This interior photograph presents a luxurious double-height living space with monumental architectural elements and refined contemporary furnishings. Scanning from left to right, the composition begins with a series of tall arched windows framed in dark metal, their graceful curves reaching perhaps twenty feet in height, allowing abundant warm daylight to flood the space. The ceiling above features an exposed grid of honey-colored wooden beams creating a coffered pattern of rectangular recesses that extends across the entire upper portion of the image like a refined waffle texture, warm to imagine against fingertips with smooth finished grain. In the left foreground, an oval white dining table sits upon a circular area rug in earthy brown tones, surrounded by approximately six upholstered dining chairs in soft dove grey with darker legs. Suspended above the table hangs an artistic chandelier composed of multiple clustered glass spheres in warm amber tones, suggesting captured droplets of light. Moving toward the center and right portion of the composition, a substantial raised planter in pale cream contains multiple living trees and smaller plants, their foliage a fresh spring green that provides the primary color accent against the predominant neutral palette of ivory, warm wood tones, and soft greys throughout. The most dramatic element occupies the right side: a sculptural spiral staircase in pure white curves upward through at least three visible levels, its smooth continuous ribbon form suggesting cool plaster or painted metal, organic and flowing like a chambered nautilus shell unfurling. The flooring appears to be large-format polished stone in pale grey tones, cool and smooth underfoot. Natural light fills the space with warmth reminiscent of late morning sunshine, creating gentle shadows that soften without harsh contrasts.

The Rossmore Penthouse is part of the new contemporary luxury apartment building located in Hancock Park, Los Angeles. The interior of the penthouse boasts a 3-level extravagant unit inspired by Art Deco elements. The use of natural materials and CLT provides a luxurious, airy feel that merges old-world charm with contemporary design. The unit features a sculptural staircase that wraps around an open-sky garden, inviting the serenity of the outdoors into the penthouse - whether it be a bright sunny day or a calm rainy evening.
