Golden Dot Invasion Christmas Decoration

Golden A' Design Award Winner 2021

This immersive outdoor installation spans overhead across a curved roadway, creating a spectacular tunnel-like canopy of thousands of suspended golden discs. Beginning with orientation, we encounter a dramatic environmental artwork where countless circular metallic elements hang from an elevated framework structure, descending in vertical strands to create a shimmering curtain of warm golden light approximately three to four meters above the road surface. Scanning from top to bottom, the upper edge of the installation meets a clear pale blue sky, with the suspended discs beginning as scattered elements catching bright silvery-gold light before densifying into a magnificent cascade that appears almost solid in its luminous intensity. The color temperature transitions from cool champagne tones at the illuminated upper portions, suggesting sunlight on polished brass, to progressively warmer amber and copper hues like liquid honey or aged whiskey where the accumulated disc density creates deeper saturation. Moving from left to right across the composition, mature palm trees with textured brown trunks and deep green feathery fronds provide organic contrast at the left edge, their natural forms creating rhythmic vertical elements against the geometric repetition of the circular suspended pieces. The roadway curves gracefully from the right foreground toward the left middle distance, its smooth dark gray asphalt surface providing cool tonal counterpoint beneath the warm golden overhead canopy. A manicured green hedge lines the road edge, its neat horizontal form suggesting careful landscape maintenance. The tactile impression of this scene suggests the cool smooth surface of polished metal discs, the warmth of ambient golden light on skin, and the slight movement one might sense as gentle air currents cause the suspended elements to shimmer and shift. The overall atmosphere conveys festive warmth, celebration, and the transformative magic of entering an extraordinary golden realm within everyday surroundings.

An ephemeral art installation inspired by the "Midas touch", composed by 1.000.000 golden sequins to attract good luck and fortune! To create a tunnel effect were used different size chains from 1 to 6 meters long that move with the wind, shine and create reflections in the surrounding area, depending on the incidence of light. Hidden in the middle of the golden dots, 2880 meters of golden led light curtains light up in the night involving the viewer by transforming their state of mind!
