Golden A' Design Award Winner 2021
This architectural visualization presents a contemporary residential structure designed to span a gently sloping hillside covered in tall grasses ranging from sage green to golden ochre. Beginning with the sky that occupies the upper two-thirds of the composition, dramatic cumulus clouds billow in formations of pearl white and dove gray, with brilliant warm backlighting suggesting late afternoon sun positioned behind the cloud mass, creating luminous edges and deep atmospheric depth. Moving downward, the dwelling itself comprises multiple interconnected volumes supported by a visible structural system of dark charcoal steel columns and diagonal braces that elevate the living spaces above the terrain. The most prominent element, positioned at upper left, appears as an angular white pavilion with faceted crystalline geometry, its surfaces rendered in warm cream and soft white with visible glazing revealing warmly illuminated interior spaces glowing in amber and gold tones. Below and extending rightward, timber-clad volumes wrapped in vertical wooden louvers create rhythmic patterns, these elements finished in warm honey, sienna, and natural wood tones that contrast with the cooler white upper volume. A dramatic linear pedestrian bridge extends from the main structure toward the right side, constructed of dark steel with mesh safety panels, on which a solitary human figure stands silhouetted against the bright sky, providing crucial scale reference. The middle ground features deciduous trees with foliage in soft olive and silvered green tones, partially obscured by atmospheric haze that lends the scene a dreamy, contemplative quality. In the foreground, the hillside slopes downward from left to right, covered in grasses with textures suggesting gentle movement, while a substantial gray boulder at bottom center anchors the composition. At the lower right edge, a vehicle in deep burgundy red provides additional scale reference. The overall atmosphere feels peaceful, elevated, and aspirational, with the interplay of solid and void, warm and cool, natural and constructed creating a sense of sophisticated harmony between dwelling and landscape.
In this project, a new and modern context-based architecture is defined with inspiration from local architectural techniques and combining it with modern construction technologies. Furthermore, the design concept is based on the priority of the natural landscape over the constructed project. The design was developed by lower interfering in nature. Therefore, the building is moved away from the earth, which causes the most connection with its landscape consequently. Liner and loop-shaped structures of bridges are grown on different axes, allowing them to have different landscape views.
