Glorieta Insurgentes Tower

Silver A' Design Award Winner 2021

A sweeping contemporary glass tower dominates the upper left portion of this architectural photograph, its distinctive curved profile creating a sail-like silhouette against a clear blue sky. Scanning from top to bottom, the tower rises approximately twenty stories with a façade composed entirely of blue-tinted glass panels arranged in horizontal bands separated by dark mullions, the surface curving gently inward then outward like a wave frozen in glass. The glass appears cool and luminous, reflecting the sky's pale azure while maintaining areas of deeper teal and aquamarine where shadows fall across the curved surface. Below the tower, the middle ground contains a row of mature trees with full summer canopies in warm olive and fresh emerald tones, their rounded organic shapes contrasting with the tower's geometric precision. Moving to the foreground, a large public plaza extends across the bottom half of the image, its pale gray concrete surface smooth and sunlit, featuring circular raised planters in dark concrete and a central oval depression that may contain water or plantings. Scattered across the plaza, perhaps thirty to forty pedestrians of various ages move in different directions, some walking alone, others in small groups, their presence providing human scale that emphasizes the tower's considerable height. To the right of the main tower, a dark rectangular parking structure rises several stories with exposed structural framework visible on its exterior, while other urban buildings of varying heights create background context. The lighting feels warm and even, suggesting midday sun from a high angle, casting minimal shadows and creating a bright, welcoming atmosphere. The overall sensation is one of contemporary urban vitality, where monumental architecture and intimate human activity coexist in a carefully designed public realm.

The Glorieta Insurgentes Tower was designed as one of Mexico's most sustainable and energy efficient High Rise's with an elegant and timeless design, which articulates two Avenues with the Insurgentes Roundabout taking its semicircular shape in an office building of 26 levels above ground with a 120 meters height. The tower has amenities for further comfort, an 800 people double height multi purpose hall with retractile bleachers in the 8th floor as well as vegetated roof gardens representing 20% of the plot area on top of the parking structure.
