Scanning this aerial photograph from left to right, we encounter first a cluster of traditional buildings with distinctive grey clay tile roofs arranged in layered hip-and-gable formations, their cool slate-blue surfaces textured with the regular rhythm of curved roof tiles that would feel cool and slightly rough to the touch. These structures frame intimate courtyard spaces visible below, where we can glimpse a rectangular pool of water reflecting sky blue, surrounded by grey stone paving and small trees. Moving rightward across the composition, we transition dramatically onto an expansive play surface rendered in warm coral red, a color suggesting sun-warmed terracotta or ripe persimmon, that spreads across roughly two-thirds of the visible area. This resilient surface material appears slightly cushioned, likely soft underfoot like firm rubber. The upper portion of this red expanse features four large eye-shaped motifs painted in concentric rings, each approximately four to five meters in diameter, their colors graduating from coral outer rings through soft pink and sage green to pale cerulean blue centers, creating forms that suggest friendly watching presences or oversized flower blooms. Small circular indentations punctuate the surface near these eye forms, adding playful texture. A sweeping elevated timber walkway enters from the upper right, its warm honey-gold wooden planks following graceful curves supported by matching timber railings, creating a pathway that feels like walking through air. This walkway descends toward a sunken circular play zone at right center, where amber-tinted wooden decking surrounds a sculptural play structure featuring circular cutouts and a gleaming stainless steel slide that would feel cool and smooth, catching brilliant sunlight in sharp white reflections. Fresh green deciduous trees with delicate spring leaves frame this zone, their foliage suggesting the gentle warmth of late spring. Several small human figures move through the space, providing scale and life.

Utilization of the open rooftop space made it possible to enhance the kindergarten's edutainment needs without sacrificing the preservation of the historic courtyard buildings and trees. The rubberized playground surface material cloaks the entire roof in varying hues of earth tones and provides a safe and comfortable surface on which the children can run, jump, fall, laugh, crawl and climb. The rich colors were derived from the vibrant pallet of colors that wrap the eves of the ancient Chinese buildings, further referencing the connection between the old and new.
