Hengqin International Financial Center Office

Platinum A' Design Award Winner 2021

A dramatic aerial photograph presents a contemporary supertall office tower rising prominently at center against a soft blue sky with scattered white clouds. The tower, photographed from an elevated southeastern vantage point, dominates the composition with its distinctive twisted form wrapped in reflective glass panels that appear cool silvery-blue like polished steel in winter light. The building's facade features elegant vertical fins that spiral gracefully upward from a wide curved base, converging and interweaving as they ascend toward a crown that splits into two pointed peaks suggesting bamboo shoots or organic plant forms reaching skyward. The glass surfaces capture and reflect the surrounding atmosphere, creating luminous warm champagne tones where direct sunlight strikes and deeper steel blue shadows in recessed areas, producing a surface texture that feels simultaneously smooth like polished stone and rhythmically articulated like corduroy fabric. At the tower's base, a sweeping podium structure extends outward with flowing horizontal curves that echo the vertical helical patterns above, creating visual continuity between ground level and sky. The surrounding urban context reveals an emerging financial district with several secondary towers of varying heights positioned to the left and right, their more conventional rectilinear forms providing contrast that emphasizes the central tower's sculptural dynamism. In the distant background, mountain ranges appear as soft blue-violet silhouettes suggesting cool misty morning air, while a waterway curves through the middle ground. The overall atmosphere conveys optimistic growth and ambitious development, with construction activity visible in surrounding parcels suggesting a district in vibrant transformation.

The project is located in Hengqin CBD Island and classified as mix-used land, including office, conference, exhibition, apartment and retail. All functions are planned as a whole to forge it into a landmark.
Inspired by "Kowloon map", the project has a unique and spiral shape rising from the ground to the sky to express speed, power, and vitality. In order to achieve such elegant form, state-of-the-art digital techniques are used to rationalize the complex shape and achieve cost control. The project is the combination of traditional Chinese totem and contemporary architecture development.
