The Rossmore Residential Multi-Unit

Golden A' Design Award Winner 2021

Scanning this architectural photograph from background to foreground reveals a contemporary residential tower captured at dusk against a soft lavender-blue sky. The building dominates the composition, rising vertically through the center and occupying approximately three-quarters of the image height. The facade's most distinctive feature consists of tall, curved concrete fins—imagine the shape of elongated tuning forks or stretched horseshoes—that sweep upward from the ground, each approximately two stories in width. These sculptural elements, numbering about eight across the visible facade, are rendered in colors reminiscent of faded rose petals mixed with cool stone—dusty pinks, soft mauves, and gray-lavenders that feel simultaneously warm and cool against the skin depending on light angle. Between these vertical curves, recessed balconies with glass railings create shadowed channels, and within many of these spaces, abundant greenery cascades—deep forest green like summer ivy or ferns, providing soft organic texture against the smooth mineral surfaces. The ground level opens through large arched passages that echo the curves above, creating sheltered entry zones with warm amber light glowing from within, suggesting the comfortable warmth of inhabited domestic spaces. To the left edge, a conventional gray apartment building provides contextual contrast. To the right, mature deciduous trees with deep green summer foliage frame the composition. The sky transitions from pale blue at top to warm apricot near the horizon. At the very bottom edge, streaked light trails from passing vehicles create horizontal linear accents, suggesting the cool whoosh of urban traffic flow. The overall atmosphere combines monumental sculptural presence with welcoming residential warmth.

The Rossmore is a contemporary luxury apartment building. It is inspired by the concepts of Art Deco Design and adapted to today’s world. This has been reflected in the material selection, the sculptural elements and the building facade. The Rossmore will use concrete cladding and timber to allow for sustainable design and cost effective construction.
