Golden A' Design Award Winner 2021
A sleek silver electric motorcycle is presented in side profile view, positioned in the lower portion of a square photograph against a rough concrete wall. Scanning from background to foreground, the upper half of the image contains a textured gray wall surface resembling poured concrete with a granular, almost stony quality in a warm gray-brown tone like weathered limestone. The lower portion shows a smooth polished concrete floor in lighter gray that reflects subtle highlights. The motorcycle itself occupies the center-right of the composition, resting on a simple gray paddock stand beneath its rear wheel. Beginning at the front, a sculptural aluminum cowl wraps around where the headlight would sit, its surface showing the soft sheen of brushed metal catching light like polished pewter. Blue-anodized fork tubes descend to the front wheel with its perforated brake disc. Moving rearward, the exposed frame reveals a network of steel tubes welded in triangular arrangements, their surfaces in matte gray like architectural scaffolding. The central mass contains the motor and battery housing, enclosed in formed aluminum panels with ventilation slots suggesting the gills of a fish. The seat area is minimal, a thin white form with red accent stripe sweeping upward dramatically like a blade, positioned approximately forty-five degrees above horizontal. Black performance tires with yellow lettering ground the machine, their rubber surface suggesting firm resilience. The overall impression is one of purposeful reduction, every element visible serves function while achieving sculptural presence. The lighting feels like overcast daylight, soft and directionless, creating gentle shadows beneath the machine and allowing the metallic surfaces to glow without harsh reflections. The temperature of the scene feels cool and contemplative, like an industrial gallery space designed for careful observation.
The XP Zero is a new type of electric motorcycle, one that discards conventions and defies expectations. Developed without compromise and built with precision, the XP combines cutting-edge design with state-of-the-art technology, representing a new era of motorcycling. The XP Zero doesn’t look like a conventional motorcycle because it isn’t a conventional motorcycle. The XP produces twice the torque of a combustion superbike, and accelerates faster than a supercar. Customisable performance profiles transform the XP from a cruiser on the highway, to a cafe racer in the twisties.
