Golden A' Design Award Winner 2021
Scanning this square-format image, listeners encounter a striking circular object positioned centrally against a smooth gradient background that shifts from soft warm gray at top to darker charcoal below. The object resembles a large disc approximately the size of a dinner plate, rendered in deep matte gray with the cool, slightly rough texture one might associate with brushed slate or dense rubber. The entire surface features a precise diamond pattern created by diagonal lines crossing each other at regular intervals, producing a quilted or woven appearance that would feel ridged beneath fingertips. Scattered across this textured surface in a grid arrangement are small metallic circles—perhaps forty or fifty of them—that catch light with subtle silvery gleams like tiny rivets or snaps. The edge of the disc presents a distinctive sawtooth silhouette, with triangular points protruding outward like the teeth of a gear or the scales along a pinecone, each triangle representing one segment of what appears to be a flexible, articulated structure. The disc rests upright, tilted very slightly toward the viewer, supported by a stand visible at the bottom that possesses a glossy black finish reflecting light like polished obsidian or wet stone. This reflective base creates a mirror image below, showing fragments of the sawtooth edge and stand in darker tones. The lighting feels soft and diffused, arriving from the upper left, creating gentle shadows on the right side of the disc that suggest three-dimensional depth. The overall atmosphere conveys calm precision, the temperature of the palette feeling cool and technological, like entering a quiet design studio or contemplating a specimen in a science museum.
The Board has a strong visual appeal of its transforming process. The structure makes it a completed circle which can be put in a backpack easily. Because of the circular appearance, it can be part of decorations at home or even place in the narrow space. It will give the users disparate visual experience and surprise. The skateboard is made from 57 interlocking pivot hinges, by folding the hinges one direction or the other, transforming the classic cruiser shape into a perfect circle.
