Golden A' Design Award Winner 2021

Scanning this interior environment from the distant background toward the foreground, listeners will mentally construct an elongated corridor space approximately three times longer than it is wide, oriented so that depth extends toward the left while the primary visual activity occupies the right side. The ceiling presents as a dark charcoal surface, cool as slate stone, embedded with multiple parallel white LED light strips that extend like luminous threads converging in the distance, creating the sensation of standing on a runway at twilight. The left portion of the space features neutral gray walls and flooring with the smooth, cool character of polished concrete, marked by crisp white dashed lines painted on the floor that feel precise and deliberate, reminiscent of road markings. Moving to the right side, a dramatic orange wall rises from floor to ceiling, warm as sunset or ripe citrus, saturated and energizing in character. Set into this orange wall are four enormous circular openings arranged in sequence, each approximately the diameter of a small automobile tire, their interiors revealing spiral metallic forms suggesting turbine blades or engine components that catch light with silver and gold warmth. Before each circular portal, small seating groups are arranged on raised platforms: round black pedestal tables surrounded by curved armchairs upholstered in rich vermillion red leather that would feel smooth and supple to touch. Suspended from the ceiling throughout the space float sculptural elements in oxidized metal finishes ranging from deep burgundy to charcoal, their organic curved forms suggesting abstracted birds or aircraft components, creating gentle visual movement. The overall atmosphere combines the energetic warmth of the orange zone with the cool technological precision of the gray zone, evoking a sense of sophisticated transportation glamour, as though one might be waiting in an exclusive lounge before an extraordinary journey.
