This rectangular photograph presents a dramatically symmetrical restaurant interior viewed from a central vantage point, scanning from the immediate foreground backward toward a distant illuminated focal point. Beginning at the bottom edge, a highly polished dark floor creates mirror-like reflections of everything above, its surface appearing almost liquid in its reflective perfection. Rising from this reflective plane, warm honey-colored wooden dining tables extend toward the viewer, their surfaces smooth as sanded maple, topped with simple circular white plates suggesting cool ceramic under fingertips. Progressing along both sides, cream-colored upholstered bench seating traces the perimeter, offering the soft yielding texture of padded leather or vinyl, their pale surfaces providing gentle contrast against the dramatic walls behind. These walls command attention through extraordinary textural treatment, rising in undulating horizontal waves of dark material, perhaps glazed ceramic or polished metal, creating a sensation like running fingers across corrugated surfaces, their glossy finish catching light in countless small bright points like stars scattered across a night sky. The ceiling draws the eye upward, where a luminous central channel of white slatted material runs the full length of the space, diffusing warm light downward like sunshine filtered through bamboo blinds, its warmth suggesting afternoon sunlight on skin. This bright spine contrasts dramatically against flanking dark ceiling areas, creating the sensation of walking beneath an illuminated pathway. At the distant terminus, perhaps twenty meters away, a perfect circle of light frames fresh green bamboo foliage, the cool verdant greens of new spring leaves creating a living focal point against the surrounding architecture. The circular aperture suggests a traditional moon gate, its round form offering geometric counterpoint to the predominantly linear surroundings. Several human figures stand silhouetted against this backlight, providing scale that reveals the generous proportions of this remarkable space.
The project aims at reinterpreting and translating Hong Kong into visualization while keeping the brand identity. The material of the feature wall represents Hong Kong as a forest of concrete, the geometry renders the building facade with balconies and the density, and the lighting mimics the households. The middle LED ceiling symbolizes the “Linear Sky Exposure” of Hong Kong, the Leon lights imitate the highway under long exposure photography, symbolizing prosperous Hong Kong, speed and heavy traffic. For futuristic touch, LED trims and floating-like portal with bamboo are designed.
