Spring Multifunctional Chair

Golden A' Design Award Winner 2021

This presentation features three cylindrical furniture pieces arranged across a polished stone floor within a contemporary interior setting. Scanning from background to foreground, the distant backdrop displays a large arch-shaped panel of grey marble with flowing white veins creating organic river-like patterns across its surface. Mounted at center on this marble backdrop is a circular artwork approximately one meter in diameter, depicting a feminine profile facing rightward, rendered in warm gold and ochre tones with a honeycomb-patterned headdress against a dark background. Moving to the middle ground at left, the tallest furniture piece rises in two stacked cylindrical sections, each drum wrapped in a cream-colored material with subtle woven texture, cool and smooth to imagine touching. Atop this piece sits a flat oak surface with warm honey coloring and visible wood grain, upon which rests a small dark vessel containing delicate branches bearing clusters of magenta-pink flowers that provide the composition's most vivid chromatic accent. At right in the middle ground stands another stacked cylindrical piece of medium height, its upper section featuring a curved cutaway opening that reveals a plush cushion in soft taupe, inviting rest. The oak top surface on this piece includes an organic live edge with natural irregular contours. Dominating the center foreground, the lowest and closest furniture piece presents its interior cavity to view, the cylindrical form inverted or opened to reveal a bowl-like oak interior catching warm light that illuminates golden-amber wood tones. The exterior wrapping continues the cream matte texture of its companions. The floor beneath extends in polished stone with grey-brown marbling shot through with cream veins, its reflective surface capturing soft luminous passages from above. Lighting enters from upper left, gentle and diffused, creating subtle graduated shadows on curved surfaces while maintaining overall brightness. The atmosphere feels serene and contemplative, quiet as a meditation space, warm as sunlight through curtains.

The design of this chair is inspired by a flower bud. It opens like a blossom and it will be reminiscent of spring. In this design, three functions have been tried to fit in one furniture in addition to being economical, it can take up less space. The technology used in this design is the use of five aluminum springs that hold it by the clamp lever. It is made by gluing wooden layers on top of each other and cutting them in a circle, which is finally covered with oak wood veneer in two colors, natural and white.
