Alignment to Air 3D Animation

Platinum A' Design Award Winner 2020

This audio description presents a digital three-dimensional animation still featuring floating typographic forms against a clean off-white background. Scanning from center outward, the dominant element is a bold arrow-shaped letterform positioned slightly above center and to the right, occupying approximately one-quarter of the composition. This central form features a warm sunshine yellow surface with a speckled texture like fine stone chips suspended in resin, creating visual interest similar to terrazzo flooring. The edges of this form reveal pale birch-colored wood with subtle horizontal grain lines suggesting natural material warmth. A triangular opening near the top of this arrow shape creates a window through which the background remains visible. Moving to the left portion, partially visible letterforms appear in softer focus, including rectangular shapes in muted coral pink and warm cream tones, their edges softened like objects seen through light fog. The lower left contains angular forms in cool neutral gray tones, providing temperature contrast to the prevalent warmth. To the right side, additional arrow shapes recede into space, rendered smaller and less distinct, some displaying the same yellow-and-wood material combination while others appear in gray variations. The background maintains consistent pale cream-white luminosity suggesting diffused daylight without harsh shadows. Soft shadows fall beneath the floating forms, cool and subtle, anchoring objects in space without heaviness. The overall atmosphere feels buoyant and fresh, like objects suspended in clear calm air. The lighting suggests gentle warmth from above and to the left, creating subtle dimensional modeling across surfaces. Textures throughout convey tactile qualities ranging from the granular yellow surfaces that might feel slightly rough to touch, to the smooth warmth of finished wood edges.

As for the creative letter animation, Jin started with the alphabet "A". And, when it comes to the concept step, he tried to see more vigorous moods reflecting on his philosophy which is quite active but organizing at the same time. Along the way, he came up with the conflicting words thoroughly standing for his idea in some way such as align to air which is the title of this project. With that in mind, the animation presents more precise and delicate moments on the first word. On the other hand, this ends up with a rather flexible and loose vibe to manifest the last letter.
