Zhangyan Country Living Festival Exhibition Space

Silver A' Design Award Winner 2021

This image presents a two-story architectural structure composed of modified shipping containers arranged in a stacked configuration, photographed from a three-quarter angle that reveals both the front and side facades. Beginning with the upper level, a large container painted in warm coral pink dominates the composition, its surface featuring the characteristic horizontal ridges of corrugated steel that create subtle shadow lines across the warm-toned surface. Black typographic text reading "Future Country Living Festival" appears in a contemporary sans-serif typeface, arranged in a stacked vertical format on the left portion of this pink container. Three large rectangular panels of translucent white material are set into the upper structure, softening the industrial character with their milky luminosity. Moving to the lower level, the facade becomes predominantly transparent, featuring floor-to-ceiling glass windows framed in bright cadmium orange, the warmth of marigolds or autumn squash. Through these windows, the interior workshop space is visible, populated with figures rendered as soft motion blurs suggesting movement and activity, like ghosts of participation. A cobalt blue container section anchors the left corner of the ground floor, its cool tone like deep twilight providing chromatic counterpoint to the surrounding warmth. The identifier "B3" appears in a speech bubble graphic, with "WORKSHOP" lettered below in clean white capitals. The ground surface consists of pale concrete or stone paving extending toward the viewer, while the sky above presents as uniform pale gray, suggesting overcast conditions that allow the architectural colors to sing without competing with atmospheric drama. The overall impression is one of festive welcome, the structure functioning as a colorful beacon that draws visitors toward creative engagement and community gathering.

The project hopes to create a blueprint for rural life in the future. The key vision design integrates the design style of Memphis School. It abstracts the "mountain, water, fish, bridge" and other elements with the local characteristics of Zhangyan Village to form the visual identity of this event. The overall vision of the project starts from the specific sections of the exhibition, speech, workshop, and market to carry out the spatial narrative, conveying the concepts of rural, sustainable, future, innovation.
